    Hi all

I’m posting on behalf of a group of local residents who have got together to try to make Merton Council listen to our severe concerns about their proposals to basically change the face of Wimbledon Park. We’re collectively really worried about the closing of the smaller children’s play park (huge impact on local mums) and the moving of the…[Read more]

    On behalf of Ian Tattum:

I am saddened to announce the death of Peter Stechman who succumbed after a long illness last week. For those of you who don’t remember him, he was Deputy Chair of the SGRA directly before I was elected as Chair. He was very active in our organisation and one of the main movers in establishing this web-site.
    As stated…[Read more]

Hi all for those of us who are deeply concerned about the proposed changes to the park, I am worried that the consultation closes on 22nd August, after which I imagine Merton Council will feel able to take a formal decision. I think we may only have a small window of time to really make the scale of local objections to these plans known – as once…[Read more]

    • Go along to the last consultation in Wimbledon Park on 14th August from 11am-3pm where you will meet many people opposed to Merton’s scheme to move the stadium. Their preferred scheme is one where they proposed to move the stadium to the railway line causing devastating consequences for residents in Elsenham Street and South Dean Gardens.

One of the objectives of the SGRA is that we raise awareness of issues affecting the community, keep residents informed of issues that affect them and provide a forum for discussion. Do make it your business to attend the Wimbledon Park consultation on Tuesday 26th July from 4.30-7.30pm or Sunday 14th August from 11.00am-3pm. It is vital you take…[Read more]
