Remembrance Day

Pupils from Southfields Community College Sixth Form attended a small service at St Barnabas on Friday 11th November to remember L/Cpr James Cartwright. James was a former student who was killed in Iraq aged 21. Cllr Guy Humphries, Jane Cooper, His
Worship Mayor of Wandsworth and many others paid their respects.

This event was followed by a Remembrance Day service on Sunday when Gary Forde spoke of Arthur Rhodes of 6 Engadine Street who was killed at the Somme in November 1916 aged 20. Gary had visited the grave in France and laid a wreath in Arthur’s memory. Visitors to St Barnabas can see a commemorative plaque to Arthur Rhodes inside the church.
